 Swiss based company Geobrugg AG is a world leader in the design, development and production of advanced “cutting edge” natural hazard protection systems that protect and safeguards people and infrastructure.

These systems are being specified, designed and installed throughout the UK to cope with the effects of events such as rock fall, unstable slopes, landslides, mudflow and snow avalanches.
The Geobrugg range of systems include:-
• High performance TECCO® mesh and SPIDER® spiral rope net systems made from high-tensile steel wire for slope stabilisation and protection;
• Rock Fall barrier systems fully meeting both European ETAG 27 with official European Technical Approvals and Swiss BAFU guidelines. The ETAG 27 compliant systems also carry CE marking to provide clients with complete confidence as to the systems performance. These barriers cover the range from 100 to 8,000 kJ. Our GBE barrier line is carrying the GE innovation award 2011;
• Debris Flow barrier systems developed in conjunction with the Swiss Research Institute WSL to mitigate the devastating effects of debris flows occurring with increasing frequency as a result of climate change;
• Landslide barrier systems for the mitigation of shallow landslides occurring with increasing frequency as a result of climate change.
• A sinkhole protection system for roads and highways. In case of an event the system may deform to the extent that a sinkhole is visually perceptible whilst not endangering road users.
Specialist design software is readily available for many of these systems
The company also produces systems for security and architectural applications.

Platipus Anchors is the world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of mechanical earth anchoring products. Founded in 1983, we are renowned for providing some of the most innovative and cost effective anchoring solutions for the Civil Engineering and Construction industries.

The percussion driven mechanical anchor is a unique, modern and versatile device that can be rapidly deployed in most displaceable ground conditions. It offers a lightweight corrosion resistant anchor that can be driven from ground level using conventional portable equipment. It creates minimal disturbance of the soil during installation, can be stressed to an exact holding capacity and made fully operational immediately.

As a completely dry system the Platipus anchor requires no grout or curing time and creates no mess or contamination, delivering excellent performance for applications including: -

 • Retaining Walls                    • Slope Stabilisation
• Bridges                                   • Sheet Piling
• Erosion Control                     • Gabion Support

Salix are founding members of the “European Soil & Water Engineering Group” (ESWEG), an organisation consisting of a European network of erosion control and bioengineering experts. This allows us to increase our knowledge base and expertise with over 1000 bioengineering projects completed collectively. ESWEG are responsible for new, innovative products within the industry and carry out extensive research and independent testing.

Salix also have exclusive UK rights to the NAG and NAG VMax3 range of erosion control products. For every individual project, Salix are committed to providing a solution led approach with a strong technical and practical support base. In the past, traditional engineering practices have relied on “hard” revetment techniques to control erosion. These “hard” techniques are expensive to construct, often unsustainable and can greatly reduce the ecological value of a site. When used correctly, bioengineering solutions can offer a cost effective and truly sustainable alternative to traditional hard engineering practices

World leader in the development & supply of products, services & systems for soil reinforcement & ground stabilisation, Tensar International Ltd is in the forefront of geogrid technology.

Drawing on 30 years of experience in analysing and optimising the performance of geogrids, Tensar has radically re-engineered the fundamental structure of geogrids to produce a revolutionary product – Tensar TriAxÔ.

Tensar’s presentation will show how that when combined with a suitable aggregate Tensar TriAx produces a mechanically stabilized layer with exceptional performance to:

Reduce Layer Thickness - Stabilisation factors for Tensar Geogrids enable the reduction in aggregate thickness
Increase Life - The use of Tensar geogrids can extend the service life of the road and makes significant savings in maintenance budgets
Increase Bearing Capacity - The load spreading capability of a Tensar stabilised layer can increase the bearing capacity of working platforms for heavy duty plant, cranes and piling rigs.
Give sustainable solutions - Reduced “carbon cost” compared with unreinforced construction

Illustrated with research data and case study evidence it can  be seen that savings in time, construction materials, maintenance and whole life costs can be gained from the application and specification of Tensar Technology.
